When I first discussed this project with my physicist client, he spoke of wishing to incorporate the Golden Ratio into the design. Excluding the legs, the width and height measurements of the frame and headboard are in proportion to the Golden Ratio. The external framework is Alder, the internal framework is Cherry and the slats are Poplar. This is a Queen size bed. The frame dimensions are 48"h x 63"w x 83"l. You might ask yourself why I went with 24 short slats instead of 12 long slats. Yeah...so do I. The design on the headboard was created using a router, a flexible guide, and a lot of little pieces of double-stick tape.
