This project came directly from the mind of my client. He had a large piece of reclaimed bowling alley flooring, 2 reclaimed poplar pillars, and a dream. I merely did what was required to fulfill that dream.
The pillars were 7" in diameter and about 8' long with squared ends. It took some doing getting past the layers upon layers of paint and turning it down to something round.

I had to replace a number of the planks due to rot and termite damage. Luckily we had extra flooring for that very purpose.

The skirt is maple. I've had a dovetail jig for almost 7 years and this is the first time I used it for a project.

I had to slip thin metal strips between the skirt and top to keep the stains from bleeding over. It was the only way to do a clean job.

After a few coats of poly, the job was done.
