This was my first stand-alone furniture commission. To fit the item to my client's budget, I saved money by using clear white pine and experimented with layered water-based and oil-based stains to give it its dark reddish coloring and to ensure that it matched the client's existing furniture as close as possible. The only hardware used are the hinges and knobs.
